Through heating up the styrene monomer, we can obtain solid polymer which is called General Purpose Polystyrene resin and also called hard resin. Generally speaking, ¨General Purpose Grade" Polystyrene resin has the advantages such as glossy, transparent, and cheap ... etc.
But to point at its disadvantages such as britteness brittle, and the poor chemical endurance...etc, it can sompound with other monomer to improve the quality and develop different kinds of products, such as: High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS), Acrylonitrile-Styrene Copolymer: AS resin, Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene Copolymer: ABS resin, etc., resins. |
